Group game ideas for a night in

The evening’s going quiet and everyone’s on their phone? Put those phones to use. Here are 6 ideas to turn the night around, with no cards and no setup.

6 ideas for your night

  1. Catch the outsider

You all know a secret word except one. You ask each other clever questions while they try to keep up. This is Odd one out, from 3 players.
  2. Play secret roles

A Mafia hides among you while a doctor and detective try to save the town. Days bring debate and accusations, and at night each plays their role by phone. Needs 5 players.
  3. Invent fake answers

A strange question appears and everyone writes a convincing lie. Then you hunt for the truth among the lies, and score whenever someone believes yours. It’s called Bluff trivia.
  4. Have a drawing duel

One player draws a word with a finger and the rest type a guess. The worst drawing of the night is often the best moment. Try Draw & Guess.
  5. Run your own quiz

A team quiz, and with Pro you can write the questions yourselves, about your group and its memories.
  6. Test your reflexes

Short rounds that are over quickly: counting, timing before zero, or cracking a proverb from emojis. Perfect between longer games.

Quick answers

What do we need to prepare?

Nothing. No paper and no cards, just a phone per player and an internet connection.

Who runs the game?

Whoever creates the room becomes the host and moves things along. In Mafia the host can play or choose to just host and narrate.

Do they suit adults?

Yes. The debate, bluffing and competition make them fun for adults and young people, not just children.

Is there anything for two people?

Yes, the Classic quiz works with very few players. Most of the deduction games start at 3.

What if we’re not in the same place?

Get on a call and join the same room. Odd one out also has an online mode with written questions and a chat.
